FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a DPF?

DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter. It's an after treatment device used in diesel engines to reduce emissions of particulate matter (soot/black carbon) by trapping and oxidizing them. The DPF filter captures particulates in the exhaust gas, and over time, a regeneration process takes place that burns off the accumulated particulate, maintaining the filter's effectiveness.

What is a DOC?

DOC stands for Diesel Oxidation Catalyst. It's an aftertreatment device used in diesel engines reduce emissions of harmful pollutants such as hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and particulate matter (PM). The DOC catalytically converts these pollutants into less harmful substances such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O) through a process known as oxidation. DOCs are typically placed close to the engine and upstream of other emission control devices, such as a diesel particulate filter (DPF), to ensure the most effective treatment of exhaust gases.

How often should I clean my DPF and DOC?

Many factors can influence how often you will need to clean your DPF and DOC such as: driving conditions, maintenance habits, and vehicle applications. Generally, the recommended cleaning timelines range from 100,000 to 250,000 miles. Please refer to your equipment or vehicle manufacturer for OEM suggested cleaning timelines. We recommend cleaning both the DPF and the DOC for maximum efficiency.

Why should I clean my DPF and DOC?

A clogged DPF leads to reduced engine efficiency, loss of power, poor fuel economy, and can eventually lead to extremely costly replacements and repairs if left ignored. The benefits of regular maintenance include: fewer regenerations, longer DPF and DOC life, increased horsepower, and less unwanted downtime.
